A heart for the Bible

Schools

We as YWAM Lausanne community have been led into a greater passion and focus on the Bible, and as a result we have had the incredible opportunity to run our Discipleship Bible School here every quarter! The DBS is a program that provides the opportunity to read the entire Bible chronologically within just 3 months, while having weekly lectures from Bible scholars and teachers from around the world. Staff and students read in a ‘small group’ setting which offers a transformational experience of going deeper into the word of God together and individually, as well as learning key tools of how to study and approach the Bible. Students come to know God’s character and nature in a much more personal and intimate way, understand the historical background of the books, see the connection of the Old and New Testament, and all while being equipped with an overview presentation of the whole Bible! DBS participants can truly testify how the “Bible was not written to us, but FOR us”!

Schools

Testimony of DBS

Before my DBS, I struggled to find motivation and passion to read the Bible, and I never really knew where to start. So I was excited to set the time apart to really dive into the word of God. My journey with the school completely surpassed my already high expectations, and my life was changed in the best way possible. I experienced God’s love and heart for his people like never before. I was able to visualize myself in the stories I was reading from Scripture, and relate with the people in them. I saw that he truly is the same God in both the Old and New Testament, and was faithful without fail to his people who, more often than not, were not faithful to Him. I was able to connect with times in my own life where I realized that God never abandoned me, and I saw clearly how deep his love was, is, and always will be. One of my highlights of the DBS was reading the Bible together with my small group. Being able to share revelations and highlights with others as you’re reading, as well as having deep discussions and conversations was truly incredible. Upon finishing the course, I was in a place where I wanted to go even deeper into God’s word; I was given such a passion for the Bible! My DBS really set the foundation of the Bible in my life, and how I study it. It’s exciting to think that this is just the first step of a lifelong journey of discovering and living out the truths of the word of God!

OUTREACH

CCC outreach in North Africa

Outreach

Our Create & Communicate Course residency students joined our Q1 DTS and Q2 BCC students in North Africa for a ten day media outreach. During their time there, the CCC team recorded several interviews on location with the DTS and BCC, documented times of ministry and lectures, and captured moments of local culture. This was an amazing opportunity for our CCC residency students to put into practice what they have learned over the past few months as well as for our communications office to receive updated outreach footage and images. We’re excited to continue to see the fruits of this outreach—both in communicating how God is moving in the nations and in calling more young people into missions.

Life with the Lord Podcast

In this episode, we sit down with Ernest Loh, our current SBS leader, to talk about the reasons biblical schools are crucial for believers. Ernest has staffed 3 SBS and lead 2 so far here in YWAM Lausanne, he's got a passion for the transformation that occurs through studying the Bible. Come join us as we discover what biblical schools are, how they study the Bible and the importance of this in our lives.

FORGING THE FUTURE

Oral Bible Translation

Forging the Future

One of the movements that has become central in YWAM as a whole, is the Oral Bible Translation movement - seeking the day that every person on earth has the scriptures in their native language. As a community, we are supporting this vision and have “adopted” one of the Bible-less languages, Kanga, hailing from Sudan. To help organize the efforts of prayer, and to track the progress of translation projects around the world, a website has been set up with information about the languages and where people can commit to intercede for the languages. If you would like to join us in praying for the translation of the Bible into Kanga, you can sign up here. We have a connection through our long term work in North Africa to native speakers and have begun to set up a translation project to turn our prayers into action. In September, we are going to be running the Oral Bible Translation course on our campus. The students will then get to participate with the project we are undertaking, providing an amazing opportunity to get involved practically. We are excited to be apart of seeing everyone on earth being able to access the scriptures in their native languages.

Invitation to Partner

Have you heard about the Mediterranean DTS we are running in October? Our heart is to expand our borders and offer a DTS in North Africa that will open the door for people in that region to do a DTS. You probably have heard about our ministry with the R3 Center, a center that is focused on helping Sudanese refugees in North Africa. Many of them are interested in doing this DTS and need financial support to make this possible. This is why we want to use our platform to voice this need and invite you to partner with them, funding their scholarship to do a Discipleship Training School. We often pray for these countries to receive the word of God, and this is a practical way to partner with God and be the answer to these prayers! If you would like to become part of this, make a donation by clicking here and specifying on the message box that it's a donation for the sudanese scholarships.

Growth of Leaders in Missions

Schools

This quarter we are running the Ministry and Leadership Development (MLD) school. In a world where more often than not true and healthy leadership is missing, this school comes out to meet this need. Its foundations are to give people a place to be walked within leadership and growth. In YWAM Lausanne we believe that this is what the mission movement also needs, not just people but leaders who can pioneer and facilitate God’s purpose on Earth. In this season we have been blessed with a wonderful staff team and students. They are so excited to grow in their skills and be challenged in their experiences and preconceptions of what ministry and leadership means. We are so excited to see what the Lord is going to do through them in our base at this time and in His plan for their future.

OUTREACH

Refugee Centers

Outreach

While going to the nations is and will always be a major focus for our community, we are also dedicated to outreach in our context here in Switzerland. In the last several months, we have made contact with a refugee center that opened up near the campus. With the middle east and central asia on many of our hearts, we felt a special opportunity that refugees from these nations would be brought into our immediate surroundings. Unlike many of our outreach locations where the social needs of refugees are met but not their physical ones, here in Switzerland the opposite is true. The refugees are well provided for physically, but their social needs are less looked after. Seeing this opportunity, as a community we have begun to spend time with them, building relationships and getting to know the families. One evening, we invited them all to the campus to share a meal with us. One of the men from central asia told one of our leaders that he was amazed; after being in Switzerland for 10 months, this was the first time he was invited to go anywhere. We are working to continue building relationships with the people and in the future we hope to offer outing, language learning, and bible studies.

FORGING THE FUTURE

Biblical Foundation for Life

Forging the Future

As we look into next year, one of the programs we are very excited to run is our School of Bilbical Studies beginning in January. It is a year-long programme committed to growing and strengthening your foundation of the Bible, by studying all 66 books in depth with a community full of people seeking after the heart of God. This transformation program builds an amazing biblical foundation in the students’ lives that continues to bear fruit no matter what or where the Lord leads them. We see countless times in scripture, the importance of spending time in the word of the Lord. In John 8, we see where it says “If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed” - John 8:31 No more than ever before, the world is in need of people with these strong bilibcal roots in their lives and there is no better way than to spend a year studying through the scriptures from start to finish.

Testimony of SBS

Before I did my SBS, I was incredibly intimidated by the workload. However, the concept of knowing each book in-depth enticed me, so it became a dream of mine. After completing a number of DBS’, I was able to spend all of last year as a student of the SBS, and it was probably one of the best years of my life. Encountering the text for myself and to experience its original intent was life changing. Going into the school, I was confused about what God’s calling was for my life. I had a variety of passions but didn’t quite see how they all lined up. Throughout the school, God really deepened my passion for helping others encounter the Bible, and confirmed what a large part of my life and calling would look. However, I always felt insecure about the lifestyle of full-time missions. But what God showed me was that He used broken humans to complete mighty tasks, and it was completely His doing, He was glorified through their “yes”. From this, I was inspired to glorify God with my whole life, to devote each day, even if it’s not perfect, to radical obedience to Him. When it came to the point of deciding what to do after SBS, God spoke very clearly to me to join Oral Bible Translation. This was something I would have never imagined myself in, but all that God has shown me has built up to this point. That, like each person in the Bible, He just required my yes and he would be glorified in it all. So! This “yes” brought me to Papua New Guinea for the past 3 months where I learnt more about Oral Bible Translation through translating the book of Ruth with a people group without a Bible in their own language. And now I am preparing to go to Jerusalem to study Hebrew for a year and complete a masters in order to help bring accuracy and accountability to the Oral Bible Translation projects throughout the world. God just wants our “yes”, and he will surely be glorified!

Korean-English DTS Returns

Schools

This quarter, we are excited to welcome 43 students for our Korean–English DTS! This is the largest April DTS school that we’ve been able to run for the past few years! It is such a joy to be able to engage with students from so many different nations. Since our April DTS is bilingual—run in both English and Korean—a large number of our students are from Korea. For the Korean students, coming to Switzerland is an excellent way to gain both cross cultural and international experience. The value of experiencing a range of cultures outside one’s own is immense and expands our understanding of life, faith, and the world. It is also a great chance for them to improve their English speaking skills as they make new connections. Additionally, there is a blessing of having their culture and language brought into our community. We see this so clearly in times of local outreach, worship, and intercession, as the Koreans bring their own unique flare and flavor. It is truely a blessing all around to have them here and we look forward to investing deeply in them over the coming months.

Lebanon Team Sees 100 Salvations

Outreach

It’s been two weeks since one of our teams arrived in Zahlé, Lebanon. And they already have so many testimonies on how God has been moving during ministries time. They have been serving in a church filled with new believers and have the beautiful task of encouraging them through testimonies, prayers, messages, worship, etc. The team is also involved in ministry with 3 different schools of Syrian refugees and have been able to share the Gospel with more than 100 people! They will move on to Beirut to carry on with their ministry time in Lebanon. We appreciate your prayers for the continued fruitfulness of this amazing outreach.

Outreach

Testimony from Lebanon Outreach Team

In the past few weeks during our time in Zahlé, Lebanon God has been teaching me a lot about the joy which comes from walking with Him. The majority of the ministry we’ve done has been with Syrian refugee schools. Last Wednesday as we were preparing to leave for the morning I was feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by the thought of going to the school. When we arrived at the school and walked into the classroom, we were greeted by about forty 7 year old kids who were all delighted to see us, waving and wearing huge smiles on their faces. These are children who have fled their country and now live in tents near the school. We spent that morning telling them stories, singing and dancing with them. I was inspired by the joy these children have despite their circumstances. God reminded me of the sweetness and abundance which comes from doing life with Him. Even in brokenness and hardship, life with Jesus is joyful and full of laughter.

FORGING THE FUTURE

Increase in Community Worship

Increase in community Worship

Lately, we’ve been experiencing an increase in worship around the base. Since the start of the year, we have set aside more times throughout the week for “prayer rooms”—spaces to gather in prayer and worship as a community. Through these times of worship, we have seen more spontaneous worship gatherings happen as students gather to seek the presence of God together. Our community meetings have also been impacted as we continue to linger in His presence and pray for one another after the end of the meetings. We are thankful and excited for this increase in worship, especially as we recently released an album from last year’s SOW (School of Worship) students and now anticipate running SOW again next quarter. As a community we’ve been reflecting on how we are all called to be worshippers—and if it’s possible to ever fully learn how to worship. It’s a continual process of growth and pressing into the presence of God through prayer, worship, and spending time with Him.

Foundations for Counseling Ministry Returning in Q3

FCM in Q3

We will be running a Foundations for Counseling Ministry (FCM) school in the third quarter of this year! The FCM course equips students to minister to the hurting, heal the broken, and restore the lost by first looking deep into their own hearts. Understanding our own behaviors helps us to understand the actions and attitudes of others. Through this course, students master the skill of active listening, witness transformation in both their lives and others, and gain new insights into human growth and development. Additionally, students develop a biblical motivation to counsel and be counseled. The course begins with three months of lecture phase, which includes teachings, small group sharing, processing, personal reflection, worship, interaction times, and practical ministries as well. We are so excited to host this school once again and add it to the courses we offer in the summer.

Testimony from FCM

"I love talking with people and getting to know them. But before FCM, some days I would lose all my energy to listen and sympathize with others. I couldn’t understand why I would suddenly lose all my capacity to listen. From the first few weeks of FCM onward, I learned so much—especially about how to be a good listener. I realized that the reason I sometimes felt so worn out while listening to others was because I believed I had to offer an answer or a piece of advice. But in FCM I learned that I don’t need to find a solution to someone’s problem in order to help them—it’s part of their own journey to figure it out themselves. I can support and walk alongside them simply by listening and helping them clarify their own thoughts and emotions. I’ve grown through FCM in so many other ways as well. I highly recommend it, even to those not planning to continue a degree in counseling—it’s been so good to learn how to walk alongside my friends, family, and classmates in a healthy way."

As we mentioned in one of our recent updates, the worship album by our School of Worship this summer has been released. We are extremely excited to celebrate this moment as the first music we have produced as a community is now available on Spotify, apple music, and other platforms for all of you to enjoy. This is just a first taste of what is to come as we look ahead to the next School of Worship happening this summer. There are already a number of students who are applying. We are excited to continue to raise up the next generation of worship leaders and musicians. We are also praying for the Lord to bring us a skilled producer who would like to come alongside the many talented song writers within our community to see more and more worship music released. There is a very bright future ahead and this album is just the tip of the iceberg. We look forward to sharing the continued outpouring of our ministry in this area.

New Sports DTS Coming in Q3

As we are paving the way for new formats of the DTS here at YWAM Lausanne, we are excited to announce that we will be running a Sports Discipleship Training School in Quarter three this year! The sphere of sports has long been something on our hearts as a community and the SDTS is our answer to this call. Along with the lecture phase that the traditional DTS offers, students of this course will have the opportunity to connect with God and each other through their passion for sports. As the goal of every DTS is always transformation, the focus of the SDTS is transformation through sports. The students will be able to learn more about how God uses this medium to build bridges with people and cultures all over the world. In addition to this, there is an exciting opportunity for those who join the SDTS. After learning about how God can be encountered through Sport, they will be able to take their knowledge and experience to the Rugby World Cup in France this fall!

DTS North Africa Team Makes Impact

DTS North Africa Team

Our team in North Africa has been able to participate in several different areas of ministry. We have been regularly visiting schools and orphanages. We have also been able to visit a rehab center and several different churches. Another area of ministry we have been able to engage in is meeting with refugees. We have been able to bring many refugees food supplies and offer them encouragement when we have visited them in their homes. In addition, we have witnessed the healing touch of Jesus in many lives and seen both physical and emotional healings. We have also been able to see beautiful moments of individuals receiving salvation. During our time in North Africa, God has been working through us to bring life and joy to those around us!

Testimony from the DTS North Africa Team

"While the North Africa team was preparing for outreach, we prayed for North Africa and its people five times a day. Throughout those prayer times, the women of North Africa were highlighted to me over and over again. During a refugee home visit, we had the chance to pray over three women representing three different households. While we prayed, the Lord put on our hearts prophetic messages for one of the women in particular. As we shared with her, she broke down in tears and began to experience an emotional and spiritual breakthrough. Jesus was meeting her right where she needed to be met at, in the midst of foreigners from 4 different countries. This encounter reminded me of the power of Jesus—the way His love and kindness transcends language, race, culture, and any other barrier."

Our Q4 DTS students kickstarted their outreach phase in the beautiful country of Togo. During the past few weeks, they have been actively involved with quite a few ministries, such as door-to-door visits, evangelism, kids ministry, youth nights, Bible studies, food distribution, Bible/audio Bible distribution, teaching and preaching. It has been an absolute joy for the students to serve and journey alongside the people of Togo, as they witness the wonderful work that God is doing in their lives and the lives of those around them.

DTS togo ministry

Testimony from the DTS Togo Team

"Coming from a non-Christian upbringing and then my first couple of years of being a Christian being very conservative, I’d heard about healings but I’m not quite sure if I fully believed it. I would probe people with questions who had seen it before to ask how it happens. I was so curious practically what it looks like. Before outreach, I wrote down that I wanted to see a healing.
Fast forward to a morning of door to door ministry and God had put on my mind the word ‘healing’. We had just finished one house visit which was frustrating due to translation so it definitely wasn’t “in the zone”. But God worked through us that morning to heal 3 women of different pains and ailments in their body and since then we’ve been able to pray for and see about 8 healings so far.
One lady in particular had been in an accident and her leg was deformed and she had a lot of pain after her surgery and couldn’t put any weight in it.
I felt God say “pray 10 times”. After 2 times all the pain left her and then the rest of the times we were praying for God to put muscle on her leg so she could put weight on it. After the 10 times she had enough strength to put some weight on it and there was no pain at all!
To me it doesn’t feel like anything special when praying in the moment, there’s no special feeling flowing through my body or anything. Just having absolute faith that what we’re declaring will happen. God has really more than answered my request to ‘see one healing’ this outreach! "

Brand New Performing Arts DTS Coming Soon

In quarter two of this year, we are very excited to launch a brand new format of Discipleship Training School centered around the arts. This entire area of arts and celebration is an area we as a whole community have been feeling the pull of the holy spirit to engage in more and more. In alignment with this, we are excited to welcome the Performing Arts Discipleship Training School (PADTS) to the portfolio of training we offer. This new format will be slightly longer, 6 months instead of 5 to allow for a deeper focus to be placed on using performance and the arts as an evangelism tool. Over the course of the lecture phase, the students and staff will assemble a program which they will then take on outreach. Outreach will also look different for this school. Over the summer season when they will be doing their outreach, Europe is inundated with festivals, events, and gatherings which welcome performers from around the world. The PADTS will take their program to these events and festivals where we expect they will touch the lives of many and have a very fruitful outreach. We invite you to join us in prayer for this bold new format of DTS as we pioneer this new program to change the lives of many.

Our 2022 recap video

SCHOOL & TRAINING

A Fruitful Year of Training

CCC session

2022 has been a spectacular year of training. As we have crossed the Jordan as a community, the doors are opening ever wider to train more young people, in more ways, for more of what God has for them. We ran a total of four discipleship training schools, two of which were bilingual (ko/en & fr/en). Alongside this, we also ran a total of seven Bible programs ranging in length from 6 weeks to a whole year. This year also saw the pioneering of a School of Worship (SOW) and the restarting of a Community Development School (CDS) on our campus. Both of these incredible courses equip students with specialized skills that enable them to be exponentially more fruitful in missions.

Speaking of specialized training, we also put on another Create and Communicate Seminar focused on video production. We look forward to continuing these programs in the next year along with other new specialized courses to equip more young people to make a deeper impact in specific areas. One other area of growth has been the continuation of the new format of the Ministry and Leadership Development School (MLD) which we have run twice this year. We rejoice at all the transformation and fruitfulness these courses have yielded and look forward with anticipation to the impact they will have into eternity through the lives of the students they have touched.

OUTREACH

Going to the Nations & the Neighborhood

NAO outreach

Much like training, outreach has flourished in our community this year. We sent out teams from each DTS, the CDS, the SOW, and two special teams made up of students and staff from our various Bible programs. This fusion of students from the different courses created a unique diversity which increased the fruitfulness of the outreach. We also made new inroads with our long-term focus on North Africa by putting on additional NAOs.

Kindgom come

While we sent many teams to the nations, we also dramatically expanded our outreach efforts in our own region. Through our weekly local outreach and large events like Kingdom Come in the city and the 2-week Regen Outreach at the Montreaux music festival, we have innovated and expanded the reach of our ministry. This has proved very fruitful and paved new inroads into reaching our region we are excited to expand upon in the coming year.

In this holiday episode, we explore the purpose and meaning behind the church tradition of advent with Daniel. Join us in this dialogue about how this practice can help prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the coming of Christ.

First Music Single Released

Ebenezer Artwork

As a capstone of their course, our School of Worship recorded an album of worship music. The record, called "Ebenezer," is comprised of an original song from each of the students. SCHOOL & TRAINING

3 Bible Schools Bring Students Deeper

BCCOL

One of the major emphasizes YWAM Lausanne has is in Bible training. We are passionate about the word of God. Its enduring universal truth transforms lives, families, communities, nations, and the world. Currently, we have 3 different bible courses underway, each with a special focus and purpose. They are the Discipleship Bible School (DBS), Bible Core Course on Location (BCC), and School of Biblical Studies (SBS).

The Discipleship Bible School (DBS) is a 3-month course where students read and study through the entire Bible, cover to cover. The aim of the school is to give students a clear picture of the big story and learn how to apply the Bible in their daily lives. This DBS is also unique as it is English and Korean bilingual. This adds a wonderful cross-cultural dimension to the school, further enriching the program.

DBS

The Bible Core Course on Location (BCC) is one of the most unique programs as it gives students the chance to explore Biblical locations while studying. The school begins in Lausanne and then travels to a number of key locations from the Bible. While on location, the students study the books that relate to those locations. Connecting the locations to the text is an experience unlike any other.

The School of Biblical Studies (SBS) is nearing its completion. Beginning in January the students have been studying the Bible book by book using the inductive method. After 6 months of study, they went on outreach for 2 months and a month's break before returning to complete their final 3 months of study. It has been a joy to walk with these students on the journey of this last year and we celebrate what they have accomplished.

Life with the Lord Podcast

This month on the LWL podcast, we sat down with Haddie, a current SBS student from the US, to chat about the prophetic books of the Bible. For many, this is a confusing and hard-to-understand portion of scripture, but when placed in its historical context, it is an incredible example of God’s love and mercy. We hope this episode encourages you in your reading of the prophets.

Q3 DTS North Africa Team Makes Impact

DTS North Africa Team

The nine members of our Q3 DTS outreach to North Africa have just concluded a very successful outreach. They have been involved in a diverse range of different ministries including working with kids, doing home visits, sharing in churches, and engaging with the R3 center. Home visits have been the team's favorite as it gives them a format to connect on a deeply personal level with people. They have been able to listen to their stories about what life has been like for the refugees here in North Africa. Many have gone through a lot of suffering both to get here and live here. On each visit they prayed with and encouraged the families, trying to show the hope they can have for their futures with God, and blessing them with packages of staple foods.

Testimonies from the DTS North Africa Team

"The DTS outreach has been an eye-opening cultural experience for me. Initially, I was hesitant to go to North Africa and at first struggled to connect with the land and people. I was also nervous about knowing the right way to engage with people and how to share God’s love. However, as I sought the Lord, he began to open my heart. On two separate mornings, I woke up with a testimony and a sermon placed in my heart to share at the churches on the immediate Sundays. As I wrote down the words He gave to me, I realized that God used my struggles to embrace the outreach to speak to me and turned them into stories that I can encourage the communities with. Through this process, I see God’s faithfulness and guidance so evident in my life. It has drawn me so much deeper into my relationship with God and I found a deep connection to the people of North Africa."

Kingdom Come Recap

Kingdom Come

To follow up on our last update, we have just hosted another Kingdom Come event in the city. Due to the changing weather, we hosted this one at a church in the light industrial district close to the city center. We put out the word both on the streets and through the relational networks and churches in the area. The passion of the evening was contagious. There were times of testimonies, worship, performing arts, preaching, prayer, and lots of fellowship. It was an incredible time of encouraging and stoking the flames of passion for the Lord. It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of seeing His Kingdom Come on earth as it is in heaven.

Invitation to Help Raise up More Young Missionaries

As we look ahead to 2023, our vision for training and equipping young people for missions has never been more clear. In the last 2 years, we have seen the Lord expand our capacity to train more students from the nations and send them to the nations. To help widen the doors to our training programs we are innovating to offer 40 partial scholarships over the course of 2023. These scholarships will be given to students with a missional call on their life who are seeking to do a full year of in-depth missions training to further equip them for the ministry God has called them to. However, we can't do this without you. The total cost of enabling these 40 students via these partial scholarships is 240,000 francs. To break that down, the cost of sponsoring one of these students for a week is only 120 chf, for a month is 480 chf, or 6,000 chf for a whole year. We ask you to consider sponsoring one of these up-and-coming missionaries this holiday season. Click here to contribute.

SCHOOL & TRAINING

Q4 Starts with Over 100 Students

busy campus

The final quarter of this year has gotten off to a strong start. We have well over a hundred students in 7 different courses. It is a true joy to have so many wonderful students all seeking to further their relationship with God in different ways. This excitement is infectious and the campus is a buzz. At the moment, we have Foundations for Counseling Ministry (FCM), French & English Discipleship Training School (DTS), English & Korean Discipleship Bible School (DBS), Bible Core Course on Location (BCC), English Learning for Missions (ELM), Ministry and Leadership Development School (MLD), and a School of Biblical Studies (SBS) in their final quarter. The students in these programs also come from more than 20 nations, each adding their own unique thread to the beautiful tapestry of cultures in our community. It is thrilling to think of all that God has instore for each of them.

Testimonies from our Schools

With so much amazing training happening in our community currently, we wanted to share with you a collection of short testimonies from our alumni about how their time at YWAM Lausanne has shaped their lives:

"The schools revealed more of who God is and through that, it transformed my life. Each school has its own purpose in diving deep into your faith that challenged me in my worldview, character, and identity. I was not only able to draw closer in my relationship with God but became more confident in who I am and saw purpose through the calling God has given me."

"The BCC for me was a school that changed my understanding of the Bible, to not be a Judge as I read the Bible but to look for God's heart through history and to see that HE is the same amazing, patient, restoring, and faithful God until today."

"Doing schools here at YWAM Lausanne has given me the dream opportunity to live in an intercultural community with the goal of learning more about God and how to make him known to the nations. It has provided me with the rich experience of cross-cultural communication as well as the experience of walking alongside others in order to advance the kingdom of God; an experience that has changed my life in absolutely unfathomable ways."

DTS Tanzania Team Makes Impact

DTS Tanzania Team

Our summer Discipleship Training School Tanzania outreach team has been having a particularly fruitful time of ministry. Since arriving in the nation, they have been involved in a range of evangelism and discipleship endeavors including teaching English, giving devotionals, leading Bible studies, and much more. The team also spent a week in the remote village of Engikaret. During this time, the team went door to door meeting with and reaching out to the people. This proved extremely fruitful and 13 individuals came to faith. The outreach has been stretching at times for the students but they are full of joy and are embracing the culture and people of Tanzania. It is thrilling to think of all the eternal fruit this outreach has resulted in and we thank God for all he has done through this wonderful team.

Life with the Lord Podcast

We have something new for you starting this month. Life With the Lord is a podcast produced by YWAM Lausanne that's focused on uncovering the daily walk of the everyday Christian and encouraging growth in key topics that every Christian will encounter or struggle with in their day-to-day lives. We hope to provide a space for teachers and peers who have a deep passion for an aspect of the Christian walk and have practiced thoughtful study in this area to have a conversation others can learn from or be inspired by. We hope you enjoy this month’s episode with Luzanne Esmeraldo and her journey to use her passion for event management to build the kingdom.

NAO 2022 Recap

NAO

At the beginning of the year, we set an emphasis on expanding our ministry impact through the R3 Community Development Center in North Africa. As a part of this expansionary effort, we established a permanent team, at the beginning of the year, in North Africa to help further develop the ministry as well as pioneer new efforts to make tangible impacts in the community. The team has begun work on an oral bible translation project with some of the refugees who speak languages without a translation of the scripture, forged new inroads with locals, and grown significantly in their language skills. We are so thankful for the amazing ministry these team members have accomplished in the last year and are excitedly anticipating all that God has for them in the coming years. Alongside the perminant team, we have also sent more outreach teams than in previous years. These outreach teams have come alongside the permanent team and existing ministries to help propel them forwards. It has been a very fruitful year and we look forward to the bright future God has in store for the ministry in North Africa.

Invitation to Partner in Reaching the City of Lausanne

NAO

One of the other areas of our calling as a ministry we have been rapidly growing in this past year has been local evangelism and outreach. For many years we have sent teams into the heart of our city weekly to share the gospel. However, starting this year, we have begun to take things to another level by hosting some of our community meetings in the city as well. We call these special meetings, Kingdom Come. This format allows us to directly invite people we meet on the streets to these open meetings with worship, testimonies, performances, delicious food for everyone, and messages. These events have already proved to be very fruitful, and we are excited to continue growing in this way of reaching our city. If you would like to help make these events possible, we would like to invite you to partner with us financially to help make these events reach more people with the good news. All information about how to give can be found here.

New Wave of Bible Courses Coming

new waves

As we approach the end of the year, we are happy to share that out of the 7 schools we will be operating in quarter four, 3 will have a clear biblical emphasis. Our SBS will be tackling the final stretch in their year-long study, and they will be joined by our BCCOL and DBS schools. Beginning in Lausanne, the Bible Core Course on Location will then travel to Egypt, Israel, Greece, Turkey, and Italy to complete its study in the actual locations where the Bible was written. For future students seeking to enroll in a bible school, the BCC can be an excellent place to start if you opt to continue your studies with SBS because it also counts as credit there. Meanwhile, the DBS will be taught bilingually in Korean and English. This is the second iteration of the DBS being taught bilingual, and we are excited to see how the diversity of the class brings further revelation to the students and their studies. The DBS follows the red thread of the Bible, looking at the plan of redemption God has for humanity from beginning to end in just 3 months.

Bible Outreach Teams Return

Bible outreach teams

Our campus had the honor of sending out two outreach teams comprised of a combonation of students and staff from our School of Biblical Studies, Discipleship Bible School, and Bible Core Course on Location. These teams were sent out to Mexico and Armenia and have both seen amazing results from their ministry now that their outreaches have concluded.

BIBLE OUTREACH TEAMS

Armenia Team

Bible Armenia Team

The Armenia team has primarily focused on working with local churches to lead small group classes and bible studies. Their aim has been to help the local believers deepen their understanding of the scriptures as well as how to study them more effectively. They have also been working on creating video teachings that are being translated into Farsi to further bless and encourage the local body of Christ as well as reach out to those who are seeking. Hopefully, the impact of these amazing teachings will continue to be felt for many years to come.

BIBLE OUTREACH TEAMS

Mexico Team

Bible Mexico Team

The Mexico outreach team has also been doing a lot of teaching with local churches and small groups. In addition to this, they have been doing evangelism, kids ministry, and ministry inside a juvenile prison. Working with the inmates has been especially impactful. The team has been going twice a week, meeting with two different sections, ages between 15-18 and 17-23. They have been able to forge relationships and speak into the lives of the young people in really powerful ways. The truth of Gods word rings true no matter where we are in life, and hopefully, their work will help the inmates to find a better track in life.

DTS ASIA TEAM

Testimony from Armenia Bible Outreach Team

One specific way we’ve seen the Bible impact lives in Armenia is when we had the opportunity to go to an Armenian church our first week here. After Lisa shared a message about God being with two specific people who were lonely and rejected in the book of Genesis, a girl came forward in tears. She explained that this was her first time coming to church in a long time and everything Lisa shared was exactly what she had been feeling but was too scared to talk about. She saw how God has been after her heart and chose to re-dedicate her life to the Lord! This was significant for me because it was simply through Lisa sharing a Bible story of how God was with people who were lonely and rejected that He met this girl and changed her life. This proves the power of God’s word.

FORGING THE FUTURE

U of N Meetings Come to Lausanne

NAO

Part of YWAM Lausanne's mandate is to serve the YWAM movement as a whole. There are a number of ways we engage with this calling, one of which is hosting various international gatherings. From the end of August into the beginning of this month, we had the pleasure of hosting the President's Gathering (PG) and Core International Leadership Team (CILT) meetings for the University of the Nations, which oversees and accredits YWAM training around the globe. These meetings normally happen once or twice per annum but had to be put on hold for nearly 2 years because of Covid. The gatherings we hosted were the second time they have convened since the hiatus. Attendees of these meetings are the upper-level academic faculty from the university along with leaders from the largest YWAM training locations. Their aim is to continue developing and implementing further innovation around training. This is vital to the health and longevity of the YWAM movement, as we seek to equip and raise up waves of young people to reach all nations. These times are also very inspiring to see the multitude of different ways the Lord has led different locations to reach the world for Christ. Coming together, exchanging ideas, building relationships, and looking to the future, these are special times indeed and we are glad to be able to host and facilitate this for our global network.

Opportunity to Partner in Training

In Luke 10:2, Jesus speaks about how the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. This is still true today. In many ways, this is the crux of the ministry of YWAM Lausanne; training and equipping young people to become these aforementioned workers. We have a fund that we use to extend partial scholarships to young people who are pursuing long-term engagement in missions and ministry. These efforts to make training more accessible to students with long-term visions in ministry have incredible long-term fruitfulness with an impact that continues to ring for decades into the future. Through this scholarship fund, you can have a direct hand in making this impact. Would you prayerfully consider making a donation towards these scholarships to see more young people raised up to reach the world for Christ? All information on how to contribute can be found here.
