OUR HEART

Embracing Our Inheritance

Schools

Dear Friends,

A key passage of scripture are the words of Jesus in Luke 10:2, where he tells his disciples that “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” This is one of the inspiring words behind our expansion. Believing that the harvest is plentiful, we are called to help raise and launch workers into his harvest. This past week we welcomed back our DTS outreach teams from Egypt, Mexico, and Brazil, where they could preach the gospel to hundreds of people and witness many giving their lives to Jesus. A great example of what we are called to!

Our recent expansion goes beyond increasing space for more students. It signifies an expansion of vision and an embrace of our inheritance. Just as the nation of Israel crossed the Jordan and claimed key cities in Canaan as vital parts of their inheritance, we too are stepping into our God-given promises. Starting in 2023, our vision has expanded in two key areas: North Africa and Lausanne.

In North Africa, we are trusting God to start a new location in Alexandria, with many pieces coming together. In Lausanne, we've seen incredible opportunities open up in refugee and university ministry, as well as our evangelistic events. Last month, during our prayer day, we spread out across Lausanne, praying and listening to God’s heart for each sphere of society.

In a similar way to Joshua looking over the land and cities in front of him, we see God’s promises beginning to take shape in North Africa and Lausanne, two key pillars of ministry for YWAM Lausanne.

The Harvest is Plenty

Outreach

"The day started during our morning intercession time where I felt God gave me a picture of a specific woman, sitting at one of the tables we planned to set up. And that's not normally something that happens to me. “I wonder what God will do with that,” I thought. That evening I tried to use some of the skills and techniques we've been learning in DTS. And to be honest, it was a bit of a disaster. I was, trying to have deep conversations with people, however they weren't really interested.

Later in the evening I joined a table that already had some people eating and enjoying the performances. I chatted with one of the ladies, one of the first things she said to me was, “I just really feel like if I had a relationship with Jesus, it would solve all my problems.” I was too stunned to really know what to say because I wasn't expecting that. I shared her the story of creation and how Jesus came to restore our relationship to him. She was really moved by that and accepted Jesus into her life!

One of the key verses I heard during evangelism week was “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” For me that verse had always felt very burdensome. I'd always focused on the second half, I felt had to sort of drag my feet to evangelism. But that day, the Lord really showed me that the first half of the verse that, the harvest is plentiful.

God had clearly been on her case already, preparing her heart to meet Him. And so, yeah, me being there, I just enabled that final step to her accepting Jesus into her life. It was clear that it was nothing I did. It was it wasn't my striving. It was an amazing evening seeing God's faithfulness, how God is more zealous and more hungry, He has more of a longing to bring people to himself than than I do!"

OUR HEART

Apostolic Missional Learning Community

Schools

Dear Friends,

Often when Darlene Cunningham reflects on the pioneering years of YWAM and YWAM Lausanne she often uses the phrase “We proved God great in those years.” As they trusted in God, listened and obeyed, he could prove his character to them again and again. In those years the teaching on knowing God’s nature and character became a building block for the mission. None of what YWAM Lausanne is today could have been accomplished without a deep understanding of God’s character and complete confidence that he will be who his Word says he is. In this season, we have felt God leading us to strengthen our understanding of God’ character, to form the basis of our trust and obedience. We were thrilled last week to welcome 88 students from 13 nations to YWAM Lausanne. They've arrived to engage in four UofN courses we are offering. Each YWAM training location is an apostolic missional learning community. As an apostolic community, we are led by the word of the Lord. We are missional to our core. We aim to spread the Gospel to the nations. We partake in this through a learning mode most referred to as discipleship. The context for all three of these concepts is a community, we live out all three as a community.

Just as in the initial pioneering years of YWAM Lausanne, we remain in the perfect situation to prove God great. Which is why reminding ourselves of who he is, is vital. When we continue to obey God and trust him for the impossible, we will always be dependent on him to display his character, and once again prove his greatness to us. As we look ahead to what we envision to do in 2024, it is ripe with opportunities for God to again display his character. Our current schools are preparing for five different outreaches. We have an upcoming global leadership school, our largest Q3 DTS in many years, preparations for our second DTS in North Africa, sustained service in our local initiatives and many more, in all of these contexts we are dependent on God to be faithful.

God's Hand on Outreach

Outreach

A small testimony from one of our current outreach teams: "One group of us went to 2 women who came around 6 months ago to Egypt. One of the ladies told us that she needed to quit her job as she started to have a lot of pain on her hands. Whenever she touched water, her hands started to hurt. So she was most of the day at home and endured a lot of pain. We a a team asked her if we could pray over her and she said yes. We prayed and asked how the pain was and she said better. So we prayed again. And the second time she started to cry and smiled and said it is all gone. We asked her if she would like to test it by putting her hands into some water, she did and the pain was gone!!!!!!!! The other woman who was just observing it all came in the middle of the prayers closer and later as we asked her how she is doing she answered, I am struggling with a lot of headache, neck pain and pain in my legs. She cannot remember a day without any pain. So we asked if we could pray over her and she said yes. We prayed. After the prayer she cried, laughed and said, she felt a cold shower going over her whole body and the pain left. She had no more headache!!!!! The feet still hurt so we took another time praying over them and again, the pain left! God is so good! The team recognised the incredible miracle we were able to testify and the students were so amazed to see how God is still moving today!"

OUR HEART

Apostolic Missional Learning Community

Schools

Dear Friends,

We were thrilled last week to welcome 88 students from 13 nations to YWAM Lausanne. They've arrived to engage in four UofN courses we are offering. Each YWAM training location is an apostolic missional learning community. As an apostolic community, we are led by the word of the Lord. We are missional to our core. We aim to spread the Gospel to the nations. We partake in this through a learning mode most referred to as discipleship. The context for all three of these concepts is a community, we live out all three as a community.

In anticipation of the new quarter, we dedicated time to delve into the concept of "learning," or as it is often termed, discipleship. Despite its familiarity, we mustn't lose sight of its profound meaning. Fundamentally, a disciple is an apprentice of Jesus, undergoing training to emulate His life in our world. While at times we may expect this to just happen to us, true apprenticeship calls for deliberate intentionality. As disciples of Jesus, we're committing to organizing our lives around apprenticing under Him. This intentionality begins at the individual level and ripples throughout our whole community at YWAM Lausanne. Our aspiration is that upon arriving in our midst, students encounter tangible examples of practices and life rhythms that can form them into a person of love in Christ. We aim to follow the model of Jesus who invited his disciples to come and see, and then sent them out to go, do, and tell!

At YWAM Lausanne we long to develop that quiet inner life that is shaped through walking with Jesus to become like him and participate in the expansion of his kingdom. It's a privilege to journey alongside the hundreds of students who pass through our apostolic missional learning community each year. We're profoundly grateful for your prayers and encouragement, which significantly contribute to the effectiveness of our ministry.

Kingdom Come

Outreach

Our most recent evangelism outreach in the city led to many fruitful conversations, even one soul coming to Christ! This event, “Kingdom Come”, is hosted every three months in Ouchy, one of the busiest and most beautiful areas in our city. Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, we shared God’s love through reading of scripture, personal testimonies, songs and dance, and of course a time of worship. This sets a beautiful background and entry point for those coming to watch, where they are invited to join us for dinner (burrito bowls!) and free ice cream.

There is something so beautiful about sharing God’s love when His creation is singing. I was touched to be able to be a part of many of these conversations and see strangers open up to the possibility that God loves them. I overheard one particular individual, a middle aged man who moved to Switzerland from the middle east, at the end of the night talking with a friend of mine, asking questions about who God really is. Twenty minutes later my friend came over to tell me that he had given his life to the Lord! In the end we distributed over 25 bibles in various languages (in French, German, Romanian, Albanian, Portuguese, Hebrew, Serbian, and more..) we saw one healing and one salvation. Praise the Lord! We rejoice with this man and the many others who were encouraged to point their hearts toward God during this outreach.

OUR HEART

Fruitful in Christ

Schools

Dear Friends,

We want to take a moment to share the impact recent events have had on our community. These events being the passing of a beloved YWAM Lausanne staff in January and of the accident in Tanzania that resulted in the passing of a former YWAM Lausanne staff and several friends & co-workers in YWAM. We now have two apple trees planted on our property. One, in memory of Loren Cunningham planted in December. The second was planted last week, during our prayer day, in memory of those who have recently passed. They help us to remember their lives and the fruitful contributions they have made and continue to make in God’s kingdom. In these times of shaking, God’s Word must be the firm anchor we bind our lives to. The reality of the future resurrection shapes the hope we experience in the present. The apostle Paul concluded his great chapter on the resurrection with these poignant words

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain”
1 Cor. 15:58

These words have brought much encouragement to us in this season. Because of Jesus, life extends into eternity. Our work on this side, which anticipates God’s coming kingdom on the other, is truly not in vain. What our friends worked for has and will continue to bear fruit. Our work will bear fruit, provided we remain steadfast, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and faithfully loving Jesus, as God has reminded us at the start of this year.

As we reflect on the initial quarter of 2024 we see glimpses of the fruitfulness of following Jesus. Two examples stand out. Our local ministries have grown significantly as we have added more refugee ministry, another French class, bible studies, and a pre-DTS course for local believers. Secondly at a recent community meeting the evening closed with several staff and students expressing commitments to God’s call on their life to the frontiers of cross-cultural missions. We are burdened by the recent loss of friends and filled with hope as we remain steadfast in serving God in Lausanne and around the globe. Knowing deep within that in the Lord our work is not in vain.

We appreciate your prayers for the global family of YWAM, and may you too be encouraged by the hope of the Resurrection, as we anticipate the celebration of easter in the coming weeks.

Stories from Uganda

Schools

A picture of the team and the boys after football ministry.

Our team had just arrived in Uganda, we were on our first week of ministry in Arua, doing house visits when we saw a group of boys building bricks in the brick field. So we invited them over to hear their stories and get to know them. Our team shared about Jesus and prayed for them. Before our outreach began we had felt that discipleship and multiplication were going to be the theme for our work there, and we were expectant to see how we would see this come true.

Soon there was an opportunity to start a weekly football ministry in the YWAM base there in Arua. These boys were so excited, around 20 showed up, we played football and then sat down to hear stories and testimonies of who God is. At the end of our first night, we all felt very strongly to disciple and walk with some of these boys so that they could be strong rocks for their community. We also had a heart to start a Bible study.

One of these boys was Frank, he was one we all felt to disciple and so we shared about the possibility of doing a Bible study with him. He got even more excited about being able to study the bible than about playing football! He quickly started to ask how many people he could invite. So we started with this new ministry and soon we had a group of 30 people studying the Bible.

Schools

Picture taken after one of the Bible study group nights.

As we continued with the Bible group we saw that multiplication was going to play a big part. We wanted to train some of the boys to be able to lead the Bible study themselves and so we prayed and we invited some of the boys to be trained in how to make an Inductive Bible Study. This entailed teaching them how to pick a text, a topic and how to hear from the Lord, how to read the whole passage and ask the Lord to know what's He highlighting, also how to research the context and how to formulate the interpretation observation and application questions.

During our final month there they were able to lead this Bible study we were there to support and participate. It was incredible to see the transformation in their lives, and how they went from building bricks to building bible studies. Through this ministry we saw people getting to know God better, we saw people giving their lives to Jesus and we saw the fruit of multiplication we had been praying for even before this outreach.

As we left we took time to bless these boys and commission them to continue being a blessing in their community.

OUR HEART

Following Jesus

Schools

Dear Friends,

To fulfill God’s call in our lives, we must be formed into a person that reflects Jesus to those around us. The reason that we walk with Jesus is indeed to become like him. This has been part of the compass word we felt God give to us; to serve as an anchoring word in 2024. When many of our students arrive on our doorstep, as they did last month, they come from a somewhat unbiblical experience. They have been living lives as believers, yet not following Jesus; a rather normal trajectory in cultures where nominal Christianity is possible. However, since they are here it means they have taken steps to be disciples, they have followed his voice as he invited them to ‘follow’. There is much potential that God can work with.

At YWAM Lausanne we have the privilege to integrate our walking with Jesus into our weekly rhythms. This is the foundation of our regular moments of worship, prayer, fellowship, and outreach. This corporate breathing in of God’s presence to breathe out his love into our ministry contexts shapes our week. When students come to YWAM Lausanne they encounter Jesus in an incredible environment of other disciples, living lives that are marked by spending time with Jesus to be like him. This is the bedrock of our apostolic community.

This communal pursuit accelerates individual growth, as evidenced by our recent Discipleship Training School (DTS) students returning from outreaches in Tanzania and Madagascar last week. Their experiences reflect the essence of a Jesus-like life: salvations, healings, deliverance, and much more.

We love to invite you to pray for the students God will entrust to us, the ones presently here and the ones to come. May God form us into the community where following the way of Jesus is our primary goal.

Stories from Madagascar

Schools

Part of our Madagascar team

Towards the end of outreach we travelled south to one of the remote areas of the Island. We served in a church, sharing a testimony and a message and by the end of this we felt like offering prayer for healing. Soon a long line was formed and we divided into teams to pray for the sick.

The line kept on getting shorter and shorter until only two people remained. A blind woman and a young girl that was assisting her. When we asked the woman what we could do for her she responded “I want to be able to read the Bible for myself”. Moved to compassion we started to pray. As I was praying I felt like taking a step back and asking God to use me and the team as a vessel for this healing. I had been praying to be a witness of a healing miracle and even though the rest of the team had seen many I still hadn’t seen one first hand.

Soon the woman started to be able to see shapes and colours and another member of the team had a vision where he was rubbing the woman’s eyes for complete healing. Asking for consent to do this he acted in faith and did what he had seen. When we finished praying the woman was able to make full contact with us, looking us in the eyes and she was able to leave the church without any help.

For our team, being able to witness the power of God through the healing of people brought us together. For me personally, this healing made me realise the God really works with us, that He isn’t a distant God, and He wants to partner in the love that we share with others.

OUR HEART

Compass for 2024

Schools

Dear Friends,

Navigating our sense of direction is a crucial aspect of our journey. For believers, it is imperative to derive our direction from God. His Word and will should serve as the compass guiding our life.

Entering 2024, we reflected on how God has guided YWAM Lausanne. His words have formed the riverbanks of our calling. Fundamental to this foundation are the Great Commission and the Great Commandments. Jesus’ instructions to his disciples; to make disciples of all nations and to love God and neighbour. The realization of these mandates in our lives requires a deep transformation into the image of Jesus.

In addition to drawing direction from God's Word, our guidance stems from how God has led YWAM, encapsulated in our visions, values, and covenants—each embedded in our unique story. Under this umbrella, we follow God to live and work in anticipation of the vision conveyed by the prophet Habakkuk, envisioning a day when "The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea" (Hab 2:14).

Empowered by these guiding principles, we enter the new year filled with faith and hope. This week, we welcomed students from around the world into this transformative context. With expectation, we trust that God will lead us all into all His purposes for YWAM Lausanne in 2024. Your prayers for the journey ahead are greatly appreciated, and we, in turn, pray and trust that God will fulfill His purposes in your life this year.

Stories from Madagascar

Our French/English DTS is currently on outreach in Madagascar. Over the past four weeks, they have been actively serving the community. Here is a brief testimony from a couple of weeks ago.

A remarkable highlight of our outreach was a unique opportunity to reach out to tribal communities. Due to the geography of Madagascar, these people groups are primarily reachable via air. Before the trip, our team engaged in a powerful time of intercession and a prayer burn that lasted for several hours. During this period, we received vivid images, meaningful verses, and inspiring words.

The impact of our prayers became evident the next day when we witnessed the tangible power of prayer. Landing in a village with a population of a thousand people, we were able to provide essential medical care and dentistry services. Our outreach went beyond physical needs; we seized numerous opportunities to minister to the people, share the gospel, and uplift a recently planted church. We experienced God's presence in extraordinary ways – from praying for the sick and witnessing demons being cast out to observing healings and individuals finding freedom in Christ.

Our team was able to see the Bible in action and our time in the village experience would have felt like a typical day for Jesus.

Celebrating Loren's Life

Schools

Dear Friends,

Certain moments in life become milestones, etched in our memories with the indelible ink of significance. December 9th stands as one of those instances. On this day, hundreds of YWAM'ers, alumni, and friends who love Loren, gathered to celebrate the extraordinary life of Loren Cunningham. The gathering was a testament to the profound impact Loren had on countless lives, whom he had released into global missions. You can experience the celebration of life here.

We listened to heartfelt speeches from the Darlene and the Cunningham family, had glimpses into Loren's life and messages, and received a father’s blessing from Loren. It truly was a milestone moment—a juncture where God's presence was evident, deepening our commitment to follow Loren's example: to love God, to listen and obey, and never give up.

Schools

Following the celebration of Loren's life, we continued to honor and reflect on his legacy. At YWAM Lausanne we conducted a symbolic tree-planting ceremony that underscored the fruitfulness of Loren's life, while an expo allowed us to dwell in the inspiring narrative of this hero of the faith. From Loren's initial call to missions as a young boy to his unyielding love for God and relentless dedication to the great commission until his final days, his life story beckons us to echo the same heart cry to follow God wholeheartedly.

We are grateful for the life of our friend and founder. May we all be blessed to know and follow God as Loren did.

Stories from North Africa

This story is the testimony of one of our students, Wahbe from Sudan.

"I never understood what it meant to hear the voice of God and never experienced it before.  When I came here to do DTS, we had a week on hearing God’s voice. In my heart I wanted to hear His voice but I had no idea how or what that meant. During the week I was struggling and frustrated because in my heart I wanted to hear but I couldn’t hear anything. So I started to pray and asked other people what to do. They all would say that I need to ask God and wait for Him to speak, so I did.

One night during the week, I was sleeping and all of a sudden I heard a voice say “Romans 8”. That was all, but it was so clear that I woke up. I thought someone in the room had said it to me but when I woke up everyone was still sleeping. Then I went back to sleep. The next morning in my quiet time, I opened up to Romans 8 because I didn’t know what it said. I read the whole chapter and as I read I found myself in the story. I felt God was talking to me directly through this chapter, especially in verse 18 which says “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Schools

Wahbe, Holding the sudanese flag.

Throughout my life I have been through so much suffering. I would always focus on the suffering and often even complain, ‘no one supports me, I don’t have family, I feel alone’ all these things, but when I read this, I felt hope in my heart. He said to me “I am your Father! Even though you have no earthly mother or father, I love you and will be your good Father” God really spoke to me that all the sufferings and pains that happened to me in the past are nothing compared to the joy awaiting me in the coming days as I walk with Him. His words to me gave brought so much hope!

Through this time I realized that hearing the voice of God is not just to hear Him but when we obey Him it brings us into relationship with Him. If I had heard His voice in my sleep but didn’t open up and read the verse, I wouldn’t have seen the richness of what he had to say to me in Romans 8.

Hearing God’s voice is all about relationship and intimacy with him as a friend. We hear him, so we can obey him, so that we can grow closer with Him!

Before this school I never had a real relationship with Him, but in the DTS I have come to know more about God. I now have a real, deep relationship with Him as I hear and obey His voice!”

In the weeks that have followed Loren’s passing, we continue to reflect on his faithful life. What are the lessons, inspiration, and vision from his life that we can walk into the future with? YWAM’s Four Legacy Words embodied Loren’s vision and shaped our mission. They are, the Vision of the Waves, the Spheres of Influence, the Christian Magna Carta, and End Bible Poverty. One of the many aspects that stands out from the vision of the waves was that Loren was a “door opener.” He pioneered a path for millions to walk in their God-given destiny. He believed that every Christian’s Bible said the same as his; “Go into all the world.” He believed this call applied to believers regardless of age, nationality, gender, or education. This vision transformed global missions.

In recent years Loren spoke about another equally disruptive vision but this time to the field of Bible translation as part of the fourth legacy word, End Bible Poverty. Instead of translation being done by an educated expert Bible translation is now being done through community translation with the mother tongue speakers at the center of the project. Loren’s initial vision of the waves spread the Gospel to every nation, this vision to translate the Bible into every mother tongue using native speakers has the potential to spread the Bible around the world. In a powerful way these two visions bookend Loren's life, a call to preach the gospel to all nations and a call to disciple all nations. Both visions championed the people no one else would.

Last week YWAM Lausanne partnered with Wycliffe Switzerland for our corporate day of prayer and fasting. A key focus of this time was praying for Bible translation projects around the globe and ones that YWAM Lausanne can participate in. We are excited to follow in Loren’s legacy and open the door for many to global missions and Bible translation!

We’d love to invite you to join us to celebrate and honor Loren’s life on December 9th in Lausanne.

OUTREACH

Stories from Chile

After being in Chile for one week, God opened the door for our team to serve and be hosted by a local church, in a southern suburb of Santiago called La Pintana. In one of our local home visit ministries, we met Elizabeth and her husband. She has been struggling with her faith for some time, and the family has been having past issues with drugs. We were able to minister to her, and Jesus touched her heart. She recommitted her life to pursing Jesus.

Our Sport DTS Team with Elisabeth and her husband.

That night she persuaded her daughter Paloma to come to a youth meeting our team was leading. In just over a week, both of their lives have been deeply impacted. Paloma, who was not walking with the Lord, was evangelising in front of our eyes to a man in a wheel chair. Elizabeth was also, praying for people and evangelising in the local park with us. God is changing hearts, and our team is experiencing his transformative power in peoples lives. Gods word for us before coming to Chile was to build relationships.

Elizabeth and her family feel like our family now. We pray that our relationships with the people here and God go deeper during this amazing time.

A month of Thankfulness

As we near the end of the year we are incredibly grateful for God’s provision. We have experienced many breakthroughs that have enabled us to see hundreds of young people trained, inspired, and sent out. This has resulted in thousands of people hearing the gospel and encountering Jesus!  Your donations and contributions to YWAM Lausanne have been key to making this possible. Many of our American alumni and friends are familiar with Giving Tuesday, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s a day to express thanks and gratitude by giving generously.

We would love to invite you to consider contributing to our projects this coming Nov. 28th. To make a donation click here.

OUR HEART

Loren is with Jesus

Schools

Dear Friends,

The news that Loren Cunningham is now with Jesus interrupted our community late on the evening of October 6th. The students for quarter four had just arrived and we were introducing them to Switzerland’s culture and story at our Swiss Night celebration, as the news broke. Our hearts are sad as we miss our dear friend. As founder, he has been the influence and inspiration for YWAM. Loren and Darlene Cunningham pioneered and laid the foundations for the YWAM ministry in Lausanne.

Together with the global YWAM family, we celebrate Loren’s fruitful life and ministry. We remember his commitment to the great commission, his love for all nations, and his faith to champion young people. He faithfully stewarded God’s vision to see youth from every culture engaging in reaching the lost and serving the purposes of God on earth. To know God and make Him know is one of the impacting moto’s he created, that has inspired thousands to engage in missions. As a community, we have a deep desire to learn from Loren Cunningham’s life and legacy. The Celebration of Life for Loren Cunningham will be in Kona on November 4th and in Lausanne on December 9th, 2023. You will find detailed information on www.lorencunningham.com and concerning the event in Lausanne on www.ywamlausanne.com.

We invite you to celebrate with us the ways in which Loren’s life, teachings, writings, stories, faith, and obedience have impacted you. Jesus has wonderfully created a mission's movement through this faithful man. Loren Cunningham has run his race; he has finished the course. We celebrate him and are deeply thankful for his life.

OUTREACH

Stories from Israel

We arrived in Eilat, the southernmost part of Israel, at night, less than 12 hours before the first attack commenced. That next morning, we woke up to the news that Hamas terrorists had successfully invaded Israel. In the beginning, many thoughts crossed our minds; fear, worry, and ultimately our hearts breaking for the nation that we had been called to serve for this season.

Schools

Our School of Worship Outreach team before they departured.

We sensed we had the immediate assignment from the Lord to stand in the gap for Israel as "watchmen," fighting the spiritual battle that was taking place over this region. Praying for the nation amidst the chaos, anguish, and melancholy that was now seeded in the hearts of the Israeli people gave us a refreshed heart for this nation, and up until we had to leave, this was something that we stood strong in.

It was truly impactful to see the Israeli people, in unity, praying for repentance, protection, and restoration of their nation. In these moments, we saw a nation that despite their many differences, were one in prayer. Even though we have left, we feel as if we have the mandate to continue to be "watchmen", carrying the burden of prayer for Israel everywhere we go. A song that we sang together as a group was a Hebrew song that declared that "God is a God that never sleeps, nor slumbers” (Ps. 121:4). We have declared the same thing over this nation, for He will bring peace and work all things together for His glory!

OUR HEART

Leadership Expansion

Dear Friends,

Today we stand on the shoulders of those who faithfully prayed and trusted God for the ministry we see today at YWAM Lausanne. Together, with the whole community, we are deeply thankful and give God all the glory. During the last years, we have seen God miraculously at work with the expansion of the facilities and pioneering of missional ministries locally and internationally.

Schools

With great joy, we announce the expansion of the leadership at YWAM Lausanne. From Markus and Anita Steffen to an innovative Base Leader Team carrying the responsibility together with Emeline Soto from France, Daniel Esmeraldo from Brazil, and Jordan Weatherson from Canada. The three of them have served at YWAM Lausanne for many years and are pillars in our ministry. With the Base Leader Team, we strengthen the future of YWAM Lausanne. Serve and care for our growing number of staff and students effectively. Innovate fresh missional initiatives. Underpin the legacy of the ministry and implement the vision as a multi-generational Base Leader Team together with our staff and community. Thank you for your trust and support. We value your prayers and generosity.

Greetings from YWAM Lausanne

OUTREACH

Stories from Mexico

During our second week in Mexico, God opened the door for us to go and serve in a very isolated group in the prison. These people were going through an addiction rehab program and didn't receive many visits from outsiders. Being this early in our outreach journey and considering the crime rates of this country, the team was quite scared about this ministry time. Then again, this didn't stop us, God had opened a door and we were going to go through it.

After passing through all the different security checks we waited for them in the dining hall. We were not able to get in with a guitar so our plan was to share stories and have conversations with the prisoners. However, two christian prisoners showed up with a guitar and we started our time together singing worship songs in Spanish (the team had learned some songs despite not knowing the language very well). We shared some testimonies about repentance and freedom and out of the 30 people in the group around 26 gave their lives to Jesus.

As our time together was coming to an end one of the prisoners who had just given his life to Jesus stood up to say grace before having dinner together. He said "I don't really know how to pray but.. God I thank you for these people... even our families have given up on us and are not visiting us anymore, but you have sent these people who not only came and spent time with us but have treated us with dignity and respect, they are making us feel like people again, not prisoners". It was evident in his voice that God had deeply touched his heart.

Schools

For security reasons, our team couldn't take pictures inside the prison. This picture is from another ministry they did in a church in Mexico City.

A few days before we finished outreach (almost two moths later) we got to visit the prison again. Our team was expectant but also scared that what had happened on the first visit had stayed in the past. But once we saw them all these fears were swept away. It was so heartwarming to see them kneeling and worshiping God as we led worship. They shared with us how they had started reading the Bible and were asking questions to get to know God better. As we were leaving we stopped to make a circle and pray for them and we were surprised when they turned around and did the same for us.

Before outreach we received an image as we intercede for the country and our ministry there. This image was two concentric circles that were switching places. as the prisoners turned around from the circle we had created and created one around us to bless us as well we understood. God prepares our way, and our hearts. This is not about us, but about God and how He can transform realities through our obedience.
