And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” – Mark 16:15.

Seek after God … with everything.
Our walk with God should always lead us towards missions. As our own lives are set free we begin to see God’s heart for those who are lost and in bondage and we must share Him with them. This is why the Discipleship Training School must have both a lecture phase and an outreach phase. A moment to focus up on who God is, in on who we are, and then out to a broken world. This is the living out of our loving relationship with The Creator.
The Mediterranean DTS is run by YWAM Lausanne and several other bases. We are running the lecture phase in one of our key outreach locations which we have invested in for many years. The lecture phase will be hosted on the shores of the Mediterranean. In the lecture phase of a DTS, students and staff alike reach a point where they are on the edge of their chairs in the classroom, longing to get on outreach. Running this DTS in an outreach location will mean your learning is embedded in a missional context rather than the classroom. You will learn on the field.
In the discipleship Training school you will be embedded in a learning community. Formal and informal learning will be taking place constantly. Weekly we will have speakers flown in from around the world to walk us through the DTS curriculum. Yet, this is not where the leaning stops. These lectures will give us material to apply in many areas of our lives. Part of our weekly rhythm will be evangelism, serving churches, kids ministry, and refugee ministry.
There will also be several moments of intercession for the nations woven into each week. However, this is just the beginning of the informal learning. The DTS class will have people from many different nations and cultures. This international class, your roommates and your small group members will help expand your understanding of who God is and prepare you with essential cross cultural skills needed for the field. A DTS staff will also be assigned to you as a ‘one on one’ to help walk you through this environment, championing you to learn from each moment and draw closer to God.
“This is a YWAM Lausanne DTS, but why is the lecture phase not in Lausanne Switzerland? For the past 12 years YWAM Lausanne and other bases have been going this region of the world for outreaches. We have worked alongside hundreds of local believers, established ongoing ministries, and seen many make decisions to follow Jesus. God is moving in this region of the world and we wanted to put our classroom as close to it as possible! ”
Doing your DTS lectures in this unique setting will completely remove the walls off of your classroom and you will learn about missions while you are on mission! This DTS will still have the same great quality of speakers and program elements as a DTS in YWAM Lausanne – you will just be placed a little closer to the action of the outreach!
Deepen your understanding of God’s character, see Him move, hear His voice, and grow in faith as you step out in bold obedience to follow him.
Practice authentic community by learning, worshiping, praying, and serving others with people from different nations, walks of life and cultures!
So you’ve spent months in lecture learning God’s heart for the nations. You are bursting with joy and eagerness to share.
Now go, dear friend, go forth and disciple those nations with skill and compassion.
Each week you will hear from world-class speakers on the following topics:
Who is God, really? What if He is infinitely bigger than we have made Him to be? These are beautifully vast questions that we can explore for the rest of our lives. Come alongside other classmates, staff, and speakers who are passionate about discovering and loving God deeply and truly. Dig into scripture, read the wisdom of sages, worship, and engage. Bring your heart, your curiosity, your confusion, and your hunger and gain tools to make a lifestyle of getting to know and live with our indescribably wonderful God.
There is nothing more powerful than living a life that reflects Christ. We will encourage you and help you develop a devotional life where you can discover Christ and how to better be His disciple. This is a lifelong journey that can take many shapes during your walk, but there are some key, foundational principles that can help you get started or improve your personal devotional life.
We love relationships here at YWAM Lausanne. We want you to learn how to build solid friendships that are based on the firm foundation of God’s Word. There is nothing stronger than a world-wide community of friends knitted together with the truth of God’s love.
A light is not meant to be hidden. God wants a personal relationship with you and every one of His created children. Imagine if no one dared to tell you about Jesus. Don’t miss the opportunity to lead someone one step closer to knowing Christ. We’ll teach you how to make this a practical lifestyle both locally and internationally.
We are called to pray without ceasing. Here at YWAM Lausanne, we regularly practice hearing what’s on God’s heart and standing in the gap for nations, communities, crises, people groups, and more.
How can we speak truth to the world if we don’t understand truth nor have a broad, cross-cultural understanding of worldview? In order to empower all nations to submit under God’s original design for them, we must be aware of and respect all cultures that God created. On DTS, you can grapple with these concepts over lecture phase. Then, you can immediately apply them in the diverse cultures that are here in Lausanne as well as on your international outreach phase.
Your life does have purpose; You are not here on accident. As you come to your DTS, we are not going to tell you what you should do with your life. No one can do that for you. Instead, we will help you discover your own unique, God-given gifts. While discovering your strengths, networking with others, and hearing God’s voice, we want to empower you to step into the fullness of what God has for you in your day to day callings and your future calling.
In order to hear how God speaks through logos, you have to actually know how to read His Word. Our goal is to help you learn how to read the scriptures in a new way that not only challenges you but also refreshes and transforms you. Let’s get beyond studying or reading just for the sake of studying or reading. This ancient text contains the timeless love letter of The Maker of the Universe and holds life applicable treasures for those who seek them.
The Bible displays how God speaks through spoken (rhema) word and the written (logos) word. God is speaking, what is hindering you from listening? We desire for you to hear God and be able to follow all that He speaks through the Word, prayer and more. As you learn to know the voice of your Shepherd, you will be able to grow in closer intimacy with Him.
God has a powerful plan for not just your life, but the lives of your friends, family, and the nations. God’s redemption story has already been set in motion through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. We want you to deeply understand the full meaning of this story so that you can live this plan in your life and to bring it to your communities and to the nations.
WHY A FIELD ASSIGNMENT?
In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus commands that we go and make disciples. We believe discipleship is not complete until you begin to make disciples. On field assignment, you get to “change the classroom” and grow in your discipleship through service.
The heart, knowledge, and skills you have gained over lecture phase can be shared with communities desperately in need of God’s love and empowerment. You will catch glimpses of God’s diversity as you see reflections of Him in different cultures.
Running this DTS in a location by the Mediterranean will give DTS students the perspective of a 5 month Field Assignment! When the time comes to divide the school into smaller teams and head out into the nations you will already be equipped and ready to go!
Field Assignment phase is the two-month portion of the YWAM DTS when you and your team get to serve in another country. Each team is unique depending on where you go. Your ministry will adapt to meet the needs of the local environment and have a heavy emphasis on sharing your faith. In the Mediterranean DTS we want to see waves of missionaries come to and from the Middle East!
Our past teams have engaged in construction projects, teaching English, serving children and youth programs, as well as reaching refugees. You will learn to share the gospel with professionals, university students, the unreached, and the poorest of the poor. You and your team will see what life is like when you obey wholeheartedly the words of Jesus to “go into all the world and proclaim the gospel.”
Here at YWAM, we trust God’s provision for our financial needs. There are plenty of ways to trust God with your financial needs. God provides through work savings, the support of family, friends, and church, or other miraculous networks. This is a practical way for others to be a part of God’s work.
Take time to prayerfully consider how to fulfill your part of the financial responsibility. You can prayerfully consider and articulate your vision—inviting others to share in the blessing by participating financially and spiritually. Plan a fundraising party or invite people one on one to support you with one-time or monthly donations. Lecture fees are due on the first full day of your lecture phase. If you have questions about fundraising, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
Want to see where your DTS will be hosted? YWAM Lausanne has rented space in a retreat center on the shores of Mediterranean. Click here to check out the location. Have your browser translate the page from Arabic to English.
