You will grow in your leadership by learning various aspect of event leadership and how to skillfully create and lead events.

We see that Co-creating events with God has a powerful impact on communities, cities and nations, by communicating God's truth and His message in creative ways. The possibilities for God to work through special events are endless. It’s amazing to see how the gathering of people for an event can be a significant tool in advancing the Kingdom of God.

The SEM is broken up into 2 phases. Lecture phase and the field assignment. Both phases are 12 weeks long. We strongly encourage you to do both the lecture phase and field assignment.

lecture phase

The lecture phase of the sem is 12 weeks long where you will grow in your leadership abilities and learn to facilitate events which give glory and honor to God. Students will plan and organize a variety of events throughout the school both on and off campus. These 12 weeks also include non-formal ways of learning such as small group interaction, discussions, community living, daily work duties, personal study, and field trips around Switzerland.

During the 12 week lecture phase you will learn a broad range of event leadership principles and skills. Right out of the gate you will start applying this on a 2 week outreach. The school will engage in supporting a 10 day outreach event at the world famous Montreux Music Festival. This is a great opportunity to fast track your learning. 

The various subjects that are covered during the lecture phase are:

- God’s perspective on the arts and entertainment

- The specific role of the arts in missions

- Event Leadership

- Plan and manage events

- Marketing and promotion

- Discovering your own gifting and anointing

- Backstage management

- Networking, Communication

- Adapting events to be contextually appropriate and effective in terms of culture, history and spiritual climate

field assignment

During the 3-month field assignment you will have an extended period of practical, hands on application of specific aspects of event leadership.

There are a variety of field assignment options available which we will finalize during the lecture phase. One of the extraordinary options available this year is a field assignment around YWAM’s 50 year celebration . YWAM International is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with events taking place in 43 locations around the world! This SEM will help organize 3 of these major celebrations in Lausanne Switzerland, Dominican Republic, and ending with the grand finale in Kona Hawaii. What an exciting opportunity to quickly put your training into practice.

The SEM is most beneficial when done together with the field assignment which gives a practical learning and application of Event Leadership. We encourage all students to do Field Assignment.

This is an amazing year to do your SEM. We have a lot of great training to pass on which comes from a multitude of events that the staff at YWAM Lausanne have led in the last years. Not to mention with this being YWAM’s 50 Year Celebration this is a once in a life time school that you won’t want to miss.
