Real life project: Homepage graphic

The site www.creative.dts-switzerland.ch needed a front page graphic. The students formed two groups and designed each a graphic. The task was to display the slogan "Get Ready - Get Equipped - get out" in an interesting way to attract young, creative student.

 


Real life project: Good 50x70

The Good 50x70 initiative invites designers from all over the world to create posters voicing one of 20 suggested social issues. The best designs are printed and displayed in an exhibition that travels the world. The students had to pick one of the topics and design each a poster in Illustrator, which were later submitted. Here some examples of (unfinished) posters:



Exercise: experiment with typography and images

In this exercise the students had to explore the visual effects that different fonts, colors and images have on the viewer. Which fonts convey the right message? Which colors go with the associated emotions?



Exercise: creating icons

Here the assignment was to create icons from items we use daily and arrange them in a simple design. For this exercise the students used Illustrator.



Exercise: Photoshop

Using Photoshop the students created individual collages of things that are important to them.

A fun exercise that included the use of camera and Photoshop



Real life project: Building complete web sites

The students formed two production teams to re-design web sites for two different ministries. The work included a marketing analysis, concepting, design and building the site in a Content Management System. Both sites went public and still use large parts of the design and the CMS.
