“To have a a compassionate heart just as God does,” was John Bills message at our community night last Thursday (21st Jan.).
He explained a battle within the hearts of Man, and a hardness that has plagued our bodies since the Fall of Man. Bills showed us how far our hearts are from being “Christ-like.” Our hearts should break the same way that Christ's does when he sees the broken and the oppressed. Jesus had a compassionate heart, and we can see that in his ministry, and in his suffering, because he suffered the way he did, he is able to suffer with us and walk with us through everything. We need to pray for hearts that are “Christ-like.” Bills raised many questions throughout the Sermon: "What do we get disturbed by? When God commands us to love, He invites us to suffer, are we ready for that? What does God want us to do in response to the enemy? Do we desire to be as disturbed as God is? What have I allowed in my life that has brought a hardness to my heart?"
All those question need prayer and meditation. The only way these things can take root into our hearts is through Intercession. Through connecting with God at a human level. Our hearts shouldn't remain to be unmoved. |
