How we live
No chance of being bored in Switzerland
Just a sample of the many things to do here:
- Hiking trips
- Biking in the woods
- Sports nights
- Movie nights and popcorn
- Forest bonfires
- Swiss city trips
As a community of young people (and those young at heart), all students and some staff live closely together in our main building called ‘the Chalet.’ Historically the “Hotel du Golf,” this building houses most of our community events: classrooms, meeting rooms, bedrooms, dining hall, internet café, and more.
We also enjoy some of the best food in YWAM family-style together in the dining room, prepared by our capable kitchen staff. During off-hours, students and staff relax together in the sunroom, internet café, or out on the lawn to enjoy the view of the French Alps just across Lake Geneva.
Weekly schedule
A big aspect of our community life revolves around our shared meeting times each week. These intimate times shape a large part of what we do and how we function together as a group. Take a look at what to expect:
Mondays: Morning all-base worship
Wednesdays: Afternoon Local Outreach into downtown Lausanne
Thursdays: Morning intercession; Evening Community Meeting open to visitors
Weekends : Usually Saturday evening fun event – varies depending on season.
Community events
Part of the uniqueness of YWAM Lausanne revolves around the shared community events that we hold as an extended family. No matter the season, there is always something fun going on around this place!
Take Café Night: an evening to display little-known talents, eat tasty treats, and dress in one’s finest. This tends to be one of the highlights of each quarter.
Or Swiss Night: smell the freshly baked Zopf bread, taste smooth Swiss chocolate and the amazing cheese fondue. Learn more about Swiss culture while you try your hand at traditional games!
Depending on your interests, there’s probably something that we do to suit your fancy: hiking trips to the nearby mountains, sports nights full of fierce and friendly competition, movie nights with hot, freshly popped popcorn, bonfires in the neighboring forest, and trips to nearby cities in Switzerland.
Come and join us for a season to remember!
