Montreux Jazz Festival, the world convenes

2010 Regeneration outreach – Day 2.

Day 2 of Regeneration began yesterday in Montreux with a time of worship and prayer together as God prepared our hearts for the events of the evening. Again people were drawn in to see what this diverse group of us were doing. Right from the start we had opportunities to share with men and women, young and old, about why we were there and where we had all come from. Since people come from all nations of the world to this festival, almost everyone was bound to meet someone from their native land, some even their own city! We set up a large map of the world and marked a dot for each person, representing where they were from. It was exciting to meet those from all corners of the earth!

One man, however, stood uncomfortably nearby as Dustin on the unicycle performed along with others. One girl from our team approached him to see how he was doing. Observing her authenticity, he slowly became more comfortable in the conversation and mentioned he was worried at first that he would just be preached to or condemned. As he inhaled his cigarette, he started coughing uncontrollably and told her he had a horrible addiction to smoking. She offered to pray for him with another team member and he accepted!

He was thankful for their companionship and was excited to meet up with them again at the festival! Another gentleman had been in a horrible accident where his feet were run over by a bus and the arches were damaged to the point where he wouldn’t be able to walk on his own again. Team members prayed for him and he was able to move his toes more than he’d ever been able to before!

There was a consistent response from individuals at the festival that the performances were beautiful and inspiring to them, making a strong statement and yet encouraging those who needed to hear the message of Jesus. The fabulous evening ended with some jump rope and we left with many people excited to hang out again tonight! chosen the world? Maybe some people never even gave thought to knowing God or His salvation while others once knew Him but had given up on having any relationship with Jesus. It was amazing to see people challenged and inspired with this thought and a few people re-committed their lives to the Lord as the final song of the story ‘Celebration’ was performed! Others were excited to learn more about a local church they could attend.
